Dollar Hits the Brakes on a Downward Slope

The Tehran currency market, in its second corrective day, is witnessing a subsiding of excitement and a decrease in the dollar price; as the American banknote has pulled back from historical peaks with a nearly 3% drop.

According to Shahr-e-Bourse, field surveys of the currency market today, Tuesday, February 3, 2026 (14 Bahman 1404), show that with the reduction of political tensions and the market entering a rest phase, the dollar price has reached the 154,440 Toman range with a noticeable decline. This comes after the dollar pushed towards the 162,000 Toman mark last week. Analysts believe that overbuying in previous days and the dominance of selling pressure over demand are the main factors behind this corrective move.

Today’s market trend showed that the lowest level touched for the dollar was 153,230 Tomans, while its daily peak was 158,670 Tomans. Despite this temporary dip, the dollar’s one-year return still shows a staggering 82.5%. Meanwhile, at the Exchange Center, the dollar remittance rate remained stable in the 143,000 Toman channel. Market activists believe the current correction could be an opportunity for medium-term buyers, although the risk of entering at price peaks remains.
