According to Shahr Bours, the Tehran Air Quality Control Company has reported that the average Air Quality Index (AQI) for the capital currently stands at 79, placing the city firmly in the “Acceptable” (Moderate) category. This follows a 24-hour average of 77, indicating a consistent, albeit delicate, balance in pollutant levels.

Market Dissection: A Deep Dive into the Capital’s Atmosphere

1. The Year in Numbers: A Pollution Tally:

Looking at the broader picture from the start of the current Persian year (1404) until today, Tehran’s environmental record remains a mixed bag. The city has seen only 6 days of “Clean” (Green) air, while a staggering 137 days were classified as “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” and 27 days were “Unhealthy for All.” Today’s “Acceptable” rating is the 152nd day of its kind this year, showing that “Moderate” is the new normal for the capital.

2. Regional Breakdown: Where is the Air Thickest?

While the average is 79, the story varies significantly across Tehran’s sprawling districts. Southern and central hubs like Shahr-e-Rey (AQI 152) and Baharestan (AQI 104) are currently reporting “Unhealthy” levels. Meanwhile, northern districts like Aqdasieh (AQI 58) and Pasdaran (AQI 63) are enjoying the cleanest air in the city, benefiting from higher altitudes and better airflow.

3. Health Impact & Advisory:

Although the general status is “Acceptable,” the 79 AQI mark is on the higher end of the moderate scale. Health experts advise sensitive groups—including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions—to avoid prolonged outdoor activities, particularly in high-traffic central areas where PM2.5 levels remain elevated.
