Emergency Gasoline Prices to Change Seasonally; Government Mandated to Review Quotas

A new directive has overhauled the pricing mechanism for emergency fuel offered at gas stations. From now on, the cost of using the gas station's emergency card will not be fixed but will fluctuate based on seasonal averages.

According to Shahr-e Bourse, based on the newly notified amendment, the rate for fuel provided via “emergency cards” at gas stations will henceforth be calculated seasonally. This calculation will be based on the average prices of the preceding season.

The directive explicitly states that the government is obligated to respond to guild requests from fuel sector activists and, if necessary, proceed with reviewing quotas and rates.

Key Changes in the New Directive:

  • Seasonal Pricing: The emergency fuel rate is no longer static; it updates every season based on the previous season’s average.

  • Quota Review: The government must address industry demands and adjust quotas or rates as required.

  • Unified Decision Making: To prevent arbitrary pricing, all rate determinations must be conducted by a specialized working group, following specific procedures outlined in the amendment’s footnotes.
